Dennis Ballinger, Ph.D., has served as Apton Biosystems’ Vice President of Research and Development since December 2017. Prior to joining Apton he was the Vice President of Genomics at Complete Genomics where he led the biochemical development of next generation sequencing platforms and at Perlegen Sciences, leading the interpretation of genomic datasets. Prior to that, he served as Director of Product Development at Ingenuity Systems, Inc., developing their genomic interpretation tools, as Senior Director of Functional Genomics at Hyseq, Inc and Director of Cardiovascular Disease Research at Myriad Genetics. Dr. Ballinger was an Assistant Professor of molecular biology at the Sloan-Kettering Institute and Cornell University Graduate School. He completed his postdoctoral training at the California Institute of Technology, received a Ph.D. in cellular and developmental biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. in molecular cell biology from University of Colorado, Boulder.
